I LOVE this little machine. I was going to get a desktop, but since I'm on the move a lot, I went with this thing. You can take it anywhere -- it's like the size of a 20 page book. The only two downfalls are the battery length, and the lack of a cd drive. Both are correctable with cheap purchases. Still, if you are going somewhere for a matter of hours (or somewhere with an outlet), this is a great machine. It has more memory and speed than my old desktop (2005). I use it for more than web surfing ... word processing, picture work on Photoshop, even video editing. It's not the fastest machine, but a lot of bang for the buck. Would purchase again in a second.

This ASUS Netbook was everything I thought it would be. My wife mostly uses it for college on-line. It's light, durable, and affordable. The hardware can handle all basic functions well. Windows 7 Basic is much more stable and less frustrating than Vista. However, you won't have many customization and sharing options with Windows 7 Basic. For instance, the Windows logo is my only visual desktop option, unless I choose to upgrade--which I won't. The first thing I did was download Firefox for free and add on NoScript, Flashblock, Ghostery, and Better Privacy. Windows is vulnerable to all kinds of attacks and diseases--especially when users implement Internet Explorer as their primary web browser. I also know I can run a free distribution of Linux for a faster, more secure computing experience when I get sick of Windows 7.

My husband and I bought this to travel with. For the money it does what we want it to. We have talked to family and friends using Skype.
For being such a compact unit it does very well. The battery seems to last 3-4 hours and could be better.
All in all it is a good value for the money.
