i needed an inexpensive, uncomplicated cordless mower to cut our two small side yards. we live in a dense suburban area where the lots are small & close together so i did not want a loud, fume belching gas mower that i would need to maintain. this mower is PERFECT! the first time out, the grass was overlong so i really gave the mower a workout. it handled beautifully & both side yards plus sidewalk strips used up about half the charge. i'm not sure what self mulching means but i have used it both ways and it works great. the blade levels are generous; i think there are about 8 options for blade position.
cons; maybe it is a bit loud for a cordless, but i'm not mowing at 6am so i don't think it matters. also, the lever that the operator holds to keep the motor going seems flimsy and i do wonder how long it will last. i've mowed 4x so far & it seems ok. the battery regiment does seem a bit arcane but for the price, i guess i don't mind.

I have been very pleased with this product so far. I am upgrading from a manual reel mower, and this is a HUGE improvement. I haven't used a gas mower in 8 years, so I really can't perform the comparison for you.

It has plenty of power to cut the grass without just pushing it down. The 1-lever height adjustment is super easy and fluid. The battery lasts long enough for me to mow my 1/8 acre yard at least twice. Some parts of my yard are rather thick crabgrassy awesomeness, and though I can hear the blade slow a bit, it still gets the job done just fine. I keep the mower in the shed and pull the battery out to charge it inside - as some other reviewers said, removing the battery is slightly harder to remove than you'd think, but not too bad. The 17-inch width is much better for my small yard as it lets me maneuver a little better around landscaping.

Earthwise 60217 17-Inch 24 Volt Side Discharge/Mulching Cordless Electric Lawn Mower Mower arrived with the wheel bent in on the front, I thought it still might be usable and from the other reviews I have read, it is hard to get customer service on this, SO, I used it anyway. Now the wheel has completely cracked and rendered not usable at all. The battery also would not hold a charge as I charge for 24 hours (as directed), then went to use a week later and it was completely dead. Not a good purchase for me at all. I will be calling the company on Monday but I am afraid I have completely blown $250. I am giving two stars as the one time I able to use, it was very light and did a nice job cutting the lawn, it is just that the quality is so poor.
